Veszprém Designated as UNESCO Creative City in the field of music

Veszprém is amongst the 66 new cities that were designated UNESCO Creative Cities at the end of October 2019 by the decision of Secretary General Audrey Azoulay. Veszprém, designated UNESCO Creative City in the field of music, is the first of its field in Hungary and second Creative City: the first being Budapest, in the field of design.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. The 180 cities which currently make up this network work together towards a common objective: placing creativity and cultural industries at the heart of their development plans at the local level and cooperating actively at the international level. Cities in the Network must also make the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda the focus of their their future development strategies and plans, in particular its Goal 11 of Sustainable Cities and Communities.
